Lifes joys are hardest sorrows

Today I went to the funeral for my friend's newborn daughter.   Just a couple days ago they were the picture of beaming joy.  TOday I stared at the small coffin at the front of the room after embracing my dear friend with his shell shocked wife.
LIfe is fickle; joys are the delicately balanced on our worst sorrows and fears.
Love your loved ones today show them what they mean to you
While we are still just a touch or call away.

Live for today and tomorrow's promise.

What are all the awesome WEMTs doing?

How's everyone doing with their Mad Awesome WEMT skills these days? Are you stabilizing c-spines, and checking ABC's

A quick call for advice: Do any of you know about EMS jobs in Europe, AU, or NZ? I'm headed to UK first to visit family types, likely for the summer, and then ? . It will be longer if I find a cool job over yonder.

Take care,
Justin

PS
Oh neat things published recently with TPA treatment on stroke victims.
Hypothermic treatment is also pretty sweet.
Podmedic Podcast on Itunes has some neat info BLS and ALS.
Check em out.

That's an A-firrm on best EMTs ever

howdy everyone! i wanted to say hello and see whats up. I am living with two housemates in santa barbara, california. they are a little bit older than me but i've known them for a long time, so its cool. really not a lot has been going on for me in terms of excitement. i am enrolled in another emt course, which i finish at the end of march, fingers crossed. its kinda funny because a lot of questions we argued about in class are actually in some of my tests.
the set-up for this emt course is a lot different. the tests and pretest questions are online and there is a packet and test for each chapter, which makes the progress slow. my last 2 weeks of the course, i have to do fly to texas, since the course is based there and participate in their dog and pony show they call camp and do ambulance and hospital rotations. my mom, er, housemate was like, "thats tornado season" but she can worry about anything. like "thats such a pretty car......bet it doesnt have airbags"
anyway, the emt course takes up most of my time, so i don't do much else. i am trying to get ready for work that starts up in may too. i hope you guys are doing well. our wemt course was awesome. i miss those days. my email is libecap.cap@gmail.com if you want it. let me know if you are nearby!
cap
ps. when people ask me about our course, i tell them that we were the best. that we would actually knock people out, usually via volcan death grip, just so we could resuscitate them. thats how good we were.

Just FYI

Thanks for sharing, Eric, hopefully we'll hear some good stories from your upcoming experiences. In the future, click on 'New Post' in the top right hand corner of the page, rather than commenting on a previous post, that way everyone can see it.

Can't believe it's been over 2 months...

...since we all sat around that glorious classroom working our PASs. I thought this might be a nice idea just to see what people are up to, so if you're up for it, give us an update on what's goin' on! I couldn't find my contact sheet so if anyone who has theirs handy wouldn't mind inviting people whose emails I couldn't get on Faceebook, that'd be awesome.

I'll break the ice: I'm in South Lake Tahoe now, come visit anytime. My house is coming together and I'm actually going to pick up a new car today (another compass). I'm taking Philosophy 101 and Microeconomics at the community college; the classes are going well. I'm also back full on into the poker world and it has been good to be back so far. After my classes are completed at the end of March, I'm gonna look into volunteering as an EMT, but as for now, I just have too much on my plate.

P.S. Eric: please no brags about snow, it's a little dry over here.
